  • IDN (InterDataNet) (since 2004) Internally funded research project. IDN concerns the definition of a layered middleware enabling collaboration in the management of distributed structured documents to support enhanced interoperability.

InterDataNet (IDN) is both a project within the Web of Data and a vision towards the Semantic Web. IDN is a project because it aims to define an architectural solution to data interoperability through a layered middleware architecture grounding the Web of Data. IDN sustains global addressability of concepts and resources as well as basic collaborative oriented services for distributed and heterogeneous data management. IDN is a vision because its infrastructural solution can boost Tim Berners Lee’s Semantic Web vision by providing an extraordinary way of achieving the collaborative creation of shared information (Web of Data) and conceptualization (Semantic Web).  IDN definitely inherits the Web Science approach by integrating computer science and telecommunications views of the future of the Web without forgetting the Web of People which are ultimately the origin and the adopters of any technical innovations.
